Projects

In addition to my written work, I excel in multiplatform media, including podcasts, video productions, photography, and blog posts. I particularly enjoy multiplatform projects because I can better express my creativity and passions through untraditional media. Below are some of my favorite projects!

Western PA to International Fame: Nellie Bly Podcast

My classmate and I interviewed Dr. Katrina Quinn, the department chair and a professor of Strategic Communication and Media at Slippery Rock University. Our project chronicled the story of Nellie Bly, one of the most famous women journalists of the 19th century. Her work in investigative journalism paved the way for future journalists.

Suddenly a Teacher: the Struggles of Online Learning

This video production showcases the experiences of Amanda and her 8-year-old niece, as they both navigate online learning during COVID-19. The compilation focuses on the benefits and challenges so many families endured in the midst of the pandemic.

Pictures are Worth
1,000 Words

This blog post details the best practices for social media photography in terms of digital marketing. In addition to outlining tips, there are numerous visual aids embedded as well as a video in which I summarize the content of the post.

What Scares You?
What Gives You Hope?

In my video editing class, my professor asked our class to interview 4-5 people on campus. He wanted us to ask two questions: "What scares you? What gives you hope?" After everyone had their videos, he told us to create a compilation of whatever videos resonated with us. This is my creation.

The individual videos that I filmed are at:

0:00-0:01, 0:26-0:28, 0:37-0:48, and 1:00-1:02.

A Quarantined 21st Birthday

In the midst of quarantine my cousin, Justin, turned 21-years-old. But his sister, Brittany, did not let the pandemic affect their plans for Justin's 21st birthday. Instead, she brought the bars to their house. My video reel highlights the celebration and her recreation of famous bars in Pittsburgh's South Side.

Photography

Throughout my photography course, I learned and practiced various techniques to better equip my visual storytelling skills. This presentation showcases some of the pieces that I created during the semester.
