My
Written Work

My experience studying journalism has enabled me to produce well-written, reliable, and intriguing articles. My collection shows my range of interests and abilities. Have a look at some of my favorite pieces below!

JAiL.jpeg

This is an investigative piece that I collaborated on with my classmate over the course of the semester. We researched the Allegheny County Jail Oversight Board and interviewed some of its members, as well as community members affected by the board. This article encapsulates the information that we discovered throughout our journey of the JOB: who they are, what they are doing, and the issues they neglect to address. This was one of my favorite pieces that I worked on.

Neighbors of the Hill District: Brenda Tate Profile

I had the privilege of writing a piece that tells the life story of Brenda Tate, a member of the Hill District for the last 71 years. In this article, she recalls the ups and downs of her life and the community, as they both have endured significant changes throughout the years.

Duquesne NAACP's Discussion of
Campus Microaggressions

NAACP.png

I wrote this article after attending a Duquesne University NAACP meeting which discussed the meaning of microaggressions, how prevalent they are on campus, and how detrimental they can be to the everyday lives of BIPOC students.

Military Suicide: A Growing Epidemic

In this article, I share the story of a family who lost their veteran after he returned from combat. Although this account only focuses on one family, my article reveals the high number of veterans who take their own life as a result of the lack of resources that are offered in their return to civilian life.

Documenting Quarantine from the Front Steps

McClintock's.jpeg

This piece focuses on the Front Steps Project, an idea that helped strengthen communities in the midst of COVID-19 isolation and quarantine. I talk to a local photographer and family who participated in the Front Steps Project to hear how it impacted them during the pandemic.
